The neck lock is a lethal attack because it places pressure upon the nerves and blood vessels of the neck, causing one to lose unconsciousness in seconds, after which one is, of course, helpless.
In one demonstration of the neck lock, we watched a master wrap a piece of cloth once around a students throat, and then twist the ends togeter with one hand. One twist of this cloth, just over the student's vagus nerve, and the student was unconscious.
This will give you some idea of just how lethal a lock to the neck is. However, there is no lock that cannot be broken by the tiny, scalpel-sharp concealed blade of the ninja, and doing so is the focus of today's session.
