The Tettsui or Hammer Fist to the Top of the Head is a strike that can stun an opponent. A powerful opponent can even use this blow to lethal effect.

LIMITATIONS AND USES OF THE TETTSUI OR HAMMERFIST
The Hammer Fist (called Tettsui in some systems, and a Nadare strike in others) to the top of the Head is a powerful strike. It cannot easily be used against a taller opponent - however, it should still be learned because the body mechanics used for this strike are different from the other strikes, and you should be able to generate power when you deliver descending blows.
LETHAL APPLICATION OF THE TETTSUI
The Hammer Fist or Tettsui is used to cave a section of the opponent's skull into his brain. This does not mean that anyone can do this. If applied by a less powerful beginner, the Tettsui to the weak point at the front of the skull simply sends a shock wave into the brain, stunning the foe. However, if applied powerfully, it will, because it is applied to a fault-line in the skull, cause a whole section of the skull to collapse inwards, slaying the foe.
And now, please read and meditate upon...
A warrior must have courage, but this is not all;
A warrior must know strategy, but this is not all;
A warrior must have insight into his enemy, but this is not all;
No, a warrior must also know the difference between fear and fear;
Which fears are wise and which foolish,
Discarding the unnecessary, and paying heed to the whispers of the necessary;
Thus attempting not only victory,
But also attempting to avoid
Defeat and death.
For the summer grass cares not
Which warrior's blood and bones
Provide its nourishment.
