Situps and Half-Squats are strength exercises that are familiar to everyone. They are an essential part of your BASIC EXERCISES when you do your Ninjutsu training online, because they, like PUSHUPS, are excellent for the initial stages of strength training.

For a beginner, half-squats represent an easy way to enhance his or her ability to kick with power... coupled with correct kicking technique, this makes for devastating kicks. Those new to training should examine the video below carefully to ensure that they do the exercises correctly and with the right form.

SITUPS AND HALF SQUATS

USES OF SITUPS AND HALF-SQUATS

These are some of the basic strength exercises in your ninjutsu training online. They are useful in the beginning, though later in your training they will be replaced by far more effective strength training exercises. They provide for basic mid-body and lower body strength.

HOW TO DO A SITUP AND A HALF-SQUAT

These exercises are very easy to do. Look at the video to learn the exercise, and consult the text below to add to your knowledge.

 

SITUPS

All you have to do is lie down with your legs half folded, and… sit up.

A sit up is easiest when you extend your arms in front of you, and most challenging when you place your hands on your shoulders as you do the sit up.

You might find it useful to ‘anchor’ your legs around a piece of furniture, or have a friend hold your legs down as you do a sit up, though of course advanced warriors can do an ‘un-anchored’ sit up quite easily.

HALF-SQUATS

This is another easy exercise, bringing power to each kick, and ensuring the effectiveness of kicking technique. To begin, stand with your feet a comfortable width apart.

Now squat down as if you were sitting in an invisible chair.

Then power back up to your feet.

Breathe in as you go down and breathe out as you power back up.

Do not crouch down to your ankles, as this will place a strain on your knees.
